PLACES TO GO
The Fir Hill is situated in the small, picturesque hamlet of Colan, an idyllic country Parish just 3 miles from the popular seaside town of Newquay on the north coast of Cornwall. Guests are afforded a glimpse of the sea down the Porth Valley as they approach the site and the beautiful beaches, dramatic cliffs and stunning coastlines of the north coast are all on our doorstep.
Fir Hill's proximity to Newquay, and easy access to the main road arteries across Cornwall (the A30 is 5 minutes away), means we are perfectly situated for you to explore Cornwall and all its spectacular tourist attractions.
The vibrant city of Truro is a short drive away, and definitely worth a visit for its impressive array of independent retailers, cosmopolitan restaurants, weekly food markets and striking architecture. Further afield you’ll find more coastline, exciting adventure activities, award winning restaurants and quaint fishing villages. The popular family attractions of The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Trewithen can all be reached within 45 minutes (depending on seasonal traffic conditions).
In addition to the beautiful sand and surfer friendly beaches of Newquay, you will also find plenty of activities to keep the whole family busy even when the sun doesn’t come out to play.
Visit the Blue Reef Aquarium, Newquay Zoo, Holywell Bay Fun Park, Dairyland Farm World, the Screech Owl Sanctuary and or if you fancy something a little more daring, there are paintballing and coasteering opportunities.
And of course, the many and varied seafront restaurants and cafes that Newquay has to offer are the perfect refuge on those not so welcome rainy days.
